Landed on the 4th of July

Actually landed on July 3 but the 4th makes a better title! We're here. Had a great trip up and over Greenland, Russia, Kazakhstan, etc. into Delhi. Great views of the mountains. We were through immigration, customs, and here at the residence at C43 Niti Bagh in 90 minutes - our own personal best for landing in India. The day started with a "walk in the park" - and thanks to friends here is the video proof ...
The electricity has just been off and we ran out of water and a tanker had to come to get us a supply of water - and one of the wireless networks just disappeared a few minutes ago. SO it's all normal. :) More reports to follow, Cate

The video of my 8th birthday needs to be in a post so I am moving it today. I am going to start blogging more frequently and the movie needs to be somewhere in a posting not on my top page! I'm learning as I go. Hope you all remember where I posted it - and that I remember too.

Amazing Visit to Ghana!

We are just back from Ghana a week now. We had a glorious time complete with adventures, calamities and new wonderful friends. It was a mission trip and we traveled with 8 good friends from First United Methodist here in Evanston. Here are 2 pictures of all of us - dirty from our building work, and cleaned up for a fancy lunch.

We're having a winter day with almost no horizon. The rocks along the Lake appear to be the edge of the world. Jack took this picture of migrating swans one day two weeks ago. He was standing on the South Blvd. Beach, about 100 yards from our front door. There were a bevy of swans last year too one mid-winter day. We wonder where they are going and coming from. Someone said that the Botanic Garden is working on the lagoons and maybe they are just on a field trip? So lovely to look at.

The movie needs some set up. It was taken by Uncle Dean Sergeant around my birthday on May 4, 1956 at Buena Vista in Mussoorie, India. The people in the movie include my mom, Dorothy Whitcomb, my baby sister Patty, brother John and various friend from Upper Kindergarten - Ginny Ebright, Carol Jean Coleman, Sherry Sergeant, Rachel Groff, Mary Ellen Fritschle, Betsy Taylor, Glennis Robinson ... and others I can't identify any more! The red cocker spaniel belonged to a mission aunty and was called Rusty. It is the only movie I know of from my childhood.

We are sending our Christmas and New Year greetings by email and on the web - it's the sustainable thing and fits into our time schedule better. We wish all our dear friends the happiest of happy holidays!
